Lake Agnes and Upper Lake Agnes are located in the Colorado Sate Forest near Cameron Pass.  The trailhead is located about 7 miles east of the village of Gould off of Highway 14 and is well marked as the Crags/Lake Agnes turnoff.  Turn south off of  Highway 14 on to the marked gravel road.  You will be greeted by a day-use fee tollbooth, it is $6 for a day pass if you do not have a state parks pass. Veer right at the first fork in the road going over the bridge and past a big dumpster.  You'll soon see the turnoff for the Crags campground, go right.  The trailhead is about 1.5 miles farther where the road dead ends at a large parking area around 10,250'. There is an old cabin and a restroom at the trailhead with a big meadow full of wild flowers and a small brook trickling through it.

The hike is .8 miles one way to the lake from the trailhead with a 420 ft elevation gain.  The trail is fairly well worn as it is a common destination for anglers and hikers.  Dogs are allowed in the area but have to be leashed while on the trail.

The road to the trail head is normally passable in most vehicles in dry conditions. It is not well maintained and sometimes has alot of washboards and rocks along the road so a high clearance vehicle is recommended.  It is usually Ice free and accessible around mid-June.  Lake Agnes is at N40°28.968' Latitude and W105°54.252' Longitude with an elevation of 10,663 ft.

Lake Agnes contains cutthroat trout.  Flies I have had success with at this lake include, a shrimp pattern, swimming shrimp pattern, and a scud pattern.  Hardware that works well there would include blue fox spinners and mepps spinners.  There seemed to be a healthy population of fresh water shrimp in this lake so matching the hatch proved to be the ticket while fishing there.
