Harrison Flats is a lake located just 18.7 miles from Buena Vista, in the state of Colorado, United States, near the ghost town of Winfield, Colorado. Take Clear Creek Road which is about 19 miles south of Leadville or 14 miles north of Buena Vista. Clear Creek Road is also FDR 390 and will take you to the town of Winfield approximately 9 miles. Just past Winfield the road turns into a 4wd road and can be pretty bumpy. Its about 2 miles to the Lake Ann Trailhead on the 4wd road. Then another 3.8 miles to the lake, the hike is moderately strenuous with a big elevation gain at the end of the hike.
Harrison Flats contains two unnamed lakes the lower one is good for 8-16" native cutthroats which are more then willing to take a dry fly, the upper lake does not contain fish. The road to the trailhead is doable in any vehicle up to Winfield, after Winfield you will need a high clearance vehicle. Harrison Flats is at Latitude: 38°55'56.10"N and Longitude: 106°28'22.43"W with an elevation of 11,811 ft.
Flies I have had success with at this lake include hopper patterns, ants, stimulators, and matt's midge. I did not use any spinners at this lake but imagine the black or yellow panther martins would work well. I would also give kastmaster's a try.
