Jewel Lake is located in Rocky Mountain National Park and can be accessed from the Bear Lake Trailhead just past Mills Lake. It is a a 6.2 mile round trip hike with about a 730 ft elevation gain. This is a very popular hike and you will see a lot of traffic on the trail most of it dies off at Mills Lake. However very few actually fish the lake so chances are you will have it to yourself for fishing or may be joined by one or two more anglers.
Jewel Lake is very good for 6"- 10" very aggressive and easily spooked brook Trout. The roads in Rocky Mountain National Park are paved and can be done in any vehicle if the season allows for it. Latitude: N40 17.222 and Longitude: W105 38.387 with an elevation of 9,967 ft.
Flies I have had success with at this lake include, hopper patterns, stimulators, and ant patterns. Hardware that worked for me there would include panther martins in black or orange.
