Mills Lake is located in Rocky Mountain National Park and can be accessed from the Bear Lake Trailhead. It is a a 5 mile round trip hike with about a 700 ft elevation gain. This is a very popular hike and you will see a lot of traffic on the trail. However very few actually fish the lake so chances are you will have it to yourself for fishing or may be joined by one or two more anglers.
Mills Lake is very good for 6"- 12" native greenback cutthroats and brook Trout. The roads in Rocky Mountain National Park are paved and can be done in any vehicle if the season allows for it. Latitude: 40.290539 and Longitude: -105.642097 with an elevation of 9,975 ft.
Flies I have had success with at this lake include, hopper patterns, stimulators, and ant patterns. Hardware that worked for me there would include panther martins in black or orange.
